Personal Statement

My goal for the next 12 months is to give back to my schools Waterpolo by assisting my Coach with the juniors and getting them ready to play at senior level. My qualities include honesty, dependability and i have a good sense of humour. These qualities help me become a better person. I have good people skills and I'm willing to help others. My family means the world to me, they have supported me in everything I do and have helped me achieve my goals.

I would like to make a difference with my determination and my strength. I know how to have fun, but know when to put my head down and focus. I have good leadership qualities and I am very competitive and play with heart. I love team sports because of the bond I get to make with new people. I am a team player.

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
THIS IS A RECOMMENDATION LETTER FOR TATUM ROGERS.

Extra-murally, her interests are well-defined as she excelled in Water Polo playing for school and provincials, sportsmanship was the biggest thing that stood out as she represents her school and province with respect and honor. Tatum is an amazing water polo player who started her career at Fourways high school and was playing against girls several years older than her and held her own against these players during games and tournaments. She was shortly noticed as a rising star and received a prestigious scholarship to a school called Steyn city. After making her move she was selected as the 1st team Captain which shows her leadership ability. She has set a phenomenal example for the years to come.

I personally know Tatum from in and around the water polo community but haven’t had the privilege of coaching her as of yet, I know her more as an opposition player and what an opposition player she is. Before games I find myself changing our team strategy and gameplay in order to mark her out the game to the best of our ability. I believe this in itself is a great description on her playing ability and value she adds to a team. Tatum remains an anchor for her team and a player who her teammates look towards for guidance and support. She is one of those players a team is proud to acknowledge. Her leadership qualities are excellent. She asserts herself in a quiet but forceful manner. I have watched Tatum grow from a young inexperienced player into a force to be reckoned with and this was purely achieved through her commitment and dedication to the sport and all that she does to improve herself. Often doing extra training to be the best player she can.

I am confident that Tatum will excel in any career she chooses and wish her the best for the future to come and I truly believe she will make the best of every opportunity that comes her way, especially if playing and coaching water polo is in her future.

To whom it may concern

I feel very privileged to have been asked to write a letter of recommendation for Tatum Rogers. Tatum has been a part of the club
since early 2021 and has excelled at every level she has played in. She is one of a select group of players who are outstanding at almost every aspect of the game, her versatility and ability to adapt during a game according to what the team needs most make her an amazing asset to any water polo setup. These abilities were recognized with her selection to the provincial Gauteng ladies’ team that toured Portugal in June of this year, an achievement made even more impressive as she was only 17 years of age. Tatum was the recipient of the club’s most influential player award in 2022.

This award is voted for by all junior players for the player that serves as an inspiration to them and one who actively tries to help them improve as players and young women. This perfectly encapsulates who Tatum is as both a person and player, always focused on improving on her own abilities but never too busy to help those younger than her to shine their own lights. It is with great pleasure that I recommend Tatum for a position within your team.

Sincerely,
Matthew van Rooyen

Letter of recommendation for Tatum Rogers

I began coaching Tatum Rogers in the beginning of 2022 and she just keeps blowing me away. Tatum has a phenomenal work ethic; nothing is too much for her which makes my job as a coach a whole lot easier. Tatum has captained our Steyn City polo side to great success, she is an incredible leader and someone all my players look up to. She is a hard worker and is extremely committed, she always plays with so much heart which is not something you can teach a player. She is a fun loving and extremely positive always which really rubs off on the rest of the team. Tatum can play anywhere you ask and she will not bat an eyelid, she will give you everything she possibly can which makes her extremely handy in the pool.

Most games Tatum does not get a break, she plays the whole game with no complaints and if she does get out then she begs to be put back in. She is extremely fit and very strong, there are not many goalkeepers Tatum cannot get past. Since I’ve coached Tatum, she has not missed more than 3 sessions, her commitment is incomparable. She not only captains my school side but also her provincial team. Tatum Rogers is a player every team wishes that they could have, if I could clone her I really would. I am dreading the day when Tatum matriculates, she will leave a huge hole in our team, and I do not think it is going to be easy to fill.
